WHO ARE WE?

Tarboosh is a 4-piece band formed in Hong Kong in the summer of 2021, they boast an unusual line-up consisting of piano and woodwinds, with two of the members playing on handpans and various types of drums and percussion. Each musician hails from a different country, and in turn, each brings their own unique musical influences to the sound of the quartet, playing all original music composed by the four members.

The music of Tarboosh is able to effortlessly blend composed passages with improvisation, leaving listeners wondering where the written music ends and the improvisation starts. The diverse influences that can be heard within the music span many genres including film scores, modern classical, minimalism, jazz, folk and world music. The result is an atmospheric blend that sounds both unique and familiar at the same time.
